However, I am sure you are getting, if you've done your homework, that new aluminum boats are not cheap. But there are very good reasons to buy an aluminum fishing boat used, and if you do it correctly, you can even get your fishing boat for free after you've sold. Let me explain.

Buying a fishing boat used is much cheaper than buying a new boat. Like anything, when you buy new you pay a premium for it. When you buy a new car you lose a pile of money the day you drive out of the showroom, and you would probably not be able to sell it for what you paid for it, even if it is not got miles on it.

Exactly the same thing with fishing boats. When you buy a new boat, you immediately lose a little money. Thus, you can guarantee that when you come to sell it a few years along, probably because you want a bigger one, you're sure to lose money.

However, if you buy an aluminum fishing boat used the chances are very good that it will cost you little or nothing once you've sold. I use my own experience as an example. I bought a secondhand 12-foot aluminum fishing boat used 2 years ago. I used it for quite a few fishing trips during this period and have two children so they grow up I start thinking about buying a bigger boat.

Recently I started watching prices for aluminum boats used and I am convinced that my boat worth as much, if not a fraction more than what I paid 2 years ago. So when I sell it, assuming I get what I paid for it, I did not pay anything for 2 years of using my boat fishing. This would not have happened if I never bought my new boat. So, in fact I had my fishing boat for 2 years, free.

Because aluminum boats are pretty bombproof and last forever. Thus, they retain their resale value very well. A good aluminum boat will last long enough that if you keep it, you could probably there for your children. While they do not deteriorate too much time. This means that even an old boat is probably in good condition, and thus have a good value.

Of course, you should take care of your boat, you have typed it in and filled bumps or scratch the paint a lot, it will not retain its value well.

And of course you need to buy well, if you pay too much for your boat, you will not get back when you sell. But assuming you buy a large boat used aluminum fishing at a reasonable price the chances are very good that will not cost you much, or anything, over time you have your boat if you treat it well.
