Aluminum Boat Hulls

Posted on May 22, 2010.
Aluminum Boat HullsWhat is the best glue to use to try to meet the indoor / outdoor carpet to a boat hull with aluminum?

I recently bought some indoor / outdoor carpet for a 12 foot aluminum (Jonboat) that I am restoring. I am trying to find the best adhesive that adheres to the inside of the boat, of course, I need to use something that is impermeable to water. Anyone know what I can use?

At Home Depot I bought this super glue called Goop plumbers. It tolerates full humidity. I used a touch of it on clothing for children to glue on a flower or a drawing.

But on my porch, I always used rubber cement around the edges to keep the outdoor carpet down. It worked well for years.
