Aluminum Boat Trailers

I recently bought a trailer for my boat. The guy gave me the plate with the trailer. It has no tags and is not saved. Do I need to go to Secretary of State and what should I do to get the trailer?

When you say that the plate, tell you a temp tag. ???? The DMV will issue the new title and tags. They want a bill of sale and MFG. cert of origin .... which is less than the guy built himself, is another story. Good luck!

You say that the trailer does not have tags, but the guy gave you a plaque? I worked at the Texas Department of Transportation for some time, although most states have different rules, that's what I can tell you ...
You must first go to the county tax office in your county. Plate? what state it is? If its the same condition as yours and the trailer does not exceed 4.001 pounds, you should have no problem. Just go and tell them that it is a house trailer and you want to save it.
