Aruba Sailing

Each year at the beginning of the tourist season, world champion catamaran sailors and their descendants on the island of Aruba. Attracted by the weather incredible and perfect sailing conditions, participants in the prestigious Heineken Regatta Aruba catamaran race this year from November 10-16. Although a limited number of boats will be presented in races every day, this event of world-class sailing also includes many activities for tourists. As the races and special events are held at the Palm Beach - home to some of the most famous resorts and tourist destinations Aruba - Aruba Catamaran Regatta Heineken give a little extra fun for everyone in one of more exciting weeks of the year.

Now in its 17th year, the Aruba Heineken Catamaran Regatta will feature 40 teams European sailing and five local boats from the island. During the races, all sizes of catamarans sail side by side. In addition, teams of world champion in sailing will share the waters with less experienced sailors, adding to the playful camaraderie of the event. During one week, several types of races will take place off the coast of Aruba. The short track racing (also known as the gateway course) and triangular races are estimated to take approximately one hour each. The most exciting for sailors and spectators, is the long distance race along the coast of the island and ends in the port area of Palm Beach.

After the races each day, tourists may also attend the medal ceremony. Daily prizes are presented to top three in each category catamarans disabled. Like all sizes of boats leave every race together, the results are separated into fast and slow heating. With more prizes for everyone, the daily price of ceremonies and their accompanying "Happy Hours" came to be known as the activities of the most entertaining evening event.

Even before the Heineken Regatta Catamaran has become an annual event, Aruba has been known as a sailing destination and the first order. Almost every year, the offshore winds create ideal sailing conditions. These gentle Caribbean breezes are always consistent enough to fill the sails of racing world champion, but quite enjoyable for fans to enjoy the water. Similarly, the waves are gentle and crystal clear water allows sailors to discover the underwater sites during the race. For tourists, the event coincides with the start of the tourist season in Aruba. Throughout the winter, the sun is the standard uninterrupted while temperatures remain high in the low 70s and 80s.

For visitors who do not participate in races, there will be many activities throughout the week, all focusing on the most famous beach in Aruba. As the race boats near the shore in Palm Beach, you can watch the races while relaxing in the sand. The Heineken Catamaran Regatta also provide spectator boats during the races. Visitors can climb aboard and sail alongside the racing yachts in the heart of the action. Throughout the week-long event, there will also be a number of restaurants and entertainment options open to the public.
