warning beep / tone of the throttle body on my 1990 bass boat? I just bought a used 1990 Sprint bass boat with 266 A 1990 Mercury 115 hp outboard motor (2 stroke).
Once or twice when I turned the key in the accessory position (where the electrical system is engaged, but before the engine turns over), I get a sharp, sustained tone. Is this a warning? There are no lights on the dashboard, so I'm confused / concerned.
Noise can start when I turn the key or if I begin to start the engine after drifting on the lake for some time. The engine seems to work very well and the noise usually stops after a few minutes of driving.
Ideas?
you have air bubbles in the line of oil, the tone is to notify you of the loss of engine oil ..... if it is a stutter tone ... not continuous, its probably bubbles of air in the oil tank at a distance and they embark on the line of oil ... a continuous signal indicating a loss of oil flow for the engine .. STOP if it does.
Once I took the wrong course of my oil tank and had plled stop oil pipes in it, but I look in my lines, man, it took forever to get all that air. There is an air bleed screw on the side of the engine, which connects the pipeline, which can be used to bleed off air when the engine is running.
easiest thing for me was to add a little oil in the gas tank so i wouldnt damage the engine, then I ran the boat on the lake, about two thirds of gas about 10 miles and finally got enough oil has pushed the lines to get rid of any air.
Good luck man, I know what a headache these types of questions are on a boat.
Thats a test to tell you that it works. If it comes or when the performance you stop.If enjection oil thats when to test yourself.
