What is the correct placement of docks and cranes of the vessel on Michigan inland lakes.? Is it correct to say that most reasonable people would put their docks and cranes ship straight line from shore to deep water and not on the corner of the property line? If everyone would go to the corner of their property of any person on the line can be no place to put their dock and some angles could run in the opposite direction and there could have criss cross platform. Is it correct to say that the riparian rights to water is shaped pie deep water or medium. Is there anywhere in our state laws that indicate you should put the platforms in the middle of your property, so you would not encrouch on the shoals of neighboring property ..
We are looking for concrete evidence that would support what we have suggested above.

My property is the lake and have asked similar questions. My concern is more related to liability, but have not found the corner of the property boundary to be at all concerned.
First, the state owns the property with water rights easement belonging to adjacent landowners. The easement would normally be based solely on the shore. However, the government could grant easements to other neighboring landowners. Ultimately, owners can apply for rights of the bank, but it belongs to the State or its agents to decide.
Well it's an interesting challenge. I currently have any service within 30 miles of Battle Creek docks. New construction, repair, installation, moving, and everything you can think of. The only thing we look for the plants we can not destroy the protected plant by placing. I'm looking for this. Report Abuse
