A 12-V DC motor beacon should be used on a fishing boat with a V-24 power. The headlamp is assessed? 50W A resistor must be connected in series with the lamp to allow him to operate on 24V. What should be the strength and power of resistance. Please show the calculations.
Power for 12V = (50/12) = 4.167A. This is the current circuit, it will also flow in the resistance.
The decrease of V across the resistor must be 12V.
Thus, the value of the resistance will be (E / I) = 12/4.167, = 2.88 ohms.
It takes 50 watts of course that the voltage and power must be divided.
resistance is the same as the resistance of the lamp, the voltage is divided in two.
P = E ² / R
50 = 12 ² / R
R = 144/50 = 2.9 ohms
