| Marketplace | Classic Sailing DinghiesPosted on April 29, 2010. Sailing clubs in Corfu Recent years have seen major changes in the scene Yacht Club Corfu. It does not seem so long ago, there were only two clubs, the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club - Corfu, which was part of the base of Athens and HORC NAOKI dinghy restoration. HORC - Corfu evolved IOK (Corfu Sailing Club) and the two clubs have since been essentially a single, shared members, the council and locals. A few years ago NAOKI began participating in the race off and started their own race series and a sailing school off the coast. Around the same time the Corfu Sailing Club has acquired a division dinghy!
And since 2007 he is also the Gouvia Marina Sailing Club, which also have their own sailing school and racing series too.
Essentially, these clubs have divivded organizing races, but they all take part in races each.
Last weekend saw the first race of the season, Kassiopi and cahnace back.It was a lot to see how the (new to Corfu ...) One Design Class Beneteau 25 years were gone. And they got good results! There are three such vessels now in Corfu, Montana, sponsored by private and http://www.boatmansworldcorfu.com, Stormy, owned by Naoki, and Alcinous, owned by the Sailing Club of Corfu. Two boats took part in the race Kasiiopi, Montana and Stormy. Montana came 4th in the first stage and back, while the third was Stormy 2nd and 1st will return! It was a classic race of Corfu with a good dose of wind but on the kind of random ... But a good time was had by all.
The next race is Preveza and back. Known for its lack of wind, this race does not usually attract many entries because it also due to start a friday.
