Dana Point Boat Show

Dana Point Boat ShowDana Point Ca popular historic getaways
Some other destinations in California may differ, but the explorer Richard Henry Dana - who discovered - pronounced Dana Point "the only romantic cove in California." Today you can find people who have a different opinion, but all can agree that this magical part of the coast of California is one of the most picturesque places in Southern California. Enjoys a near-perfect and near a set of guide-full of tourist attractions, Dana Point is now a popular getaway for people from around the state. It is difficult to imagine, but at the end of the 19th century Dana Point is the only major port between San Diego and Santa Barbara. Forget Long Beach, San Pedro and all the rest. Dana Point is your destination if you arrive on boats to the area in general. The same harbor that attracted browsers is still very early port of call, but leaning more toward pleasure craft with its 2,500 slips that are usually filled with a wide selection of expensive yachts and small boats that would make any Boat Show proud. The Dana Point Marina, of course, becomes the centerpiece of the region and the development of paintings and paintings that are readily available in local shops. But wait, there's more. It just happens that several public beaches in the region, a multitude of good restaurants, a historic mission in the vicinity of Laguna, department stores, a vibrant arts community and quite posh Orange County to make you feel you live in an episode of the OC. It was a quick drive to Dana Point our home near San Diego - a 45-mile drive in less than an hour. Residents in most areas near Los Angeles may also go to Dana Point in less than 90 minutes. This is one reason the region has become a popular getaway - a perfect location, easy to reach. For residents of Northern California, it's just a bit further south than LA our base of operations was the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort and Spa, an impressive complex built on the cliffs overlooking the Dana Point Harbor. All services and amenities you would expect were there - a couple of complex style restaurants, swimming pools, Jacuzzis, tennis courts, a fitness center new 2500 square feet and a new $ 8.5 million spa offering a range of services including massages, body treatments and salon services. This 376-room resort had the feel of a comfortable hotel you could find in Hawaii. Although the beach in this case is a 15 minute walk, the hotel's spacious rooms are done in bright tropical colors and well coordinated. On the walls are five feet high, boats and beaches and surfers, anything you remember exactly where you are. If you're lucky - we were - being in a room overlooking the coast, your private veranda are part of the harbor and the coastline. This view will probably vary greatly from room to room, if one of the main reasons to stay here, be sure to be specific when you make your reservations. The designs are also reminiscent of some properties Hawaii - lots of palm trees and sidewalks well maintained on a 42 acre tropical well endowed. This area includes a park adjacent to the hotel where you can find rolling lawns, picnic tables, hiking trails and ocean views from the cliffs. And another little thing we noticed on the Marriott Laguna Cliffs: the beds are more comfortable than most hotels we have visited. For some reason, even some of the finest resort hotels appear to favor a harder mattress. Not here - these beds were flexible enough to offer us a restful, undisturbed sleep. Any visit to Dana Point will require some time to explore the marina. This is not just a bunch of boats - an entire village has grown up dockside to offer the tourist and shopping places for lunch or dinner. Some 25 shops and 20 restaurants are open in Dana Wharf, Mariners Village and Mariners Alley. But the boats are a big part of it -.
