Is there a good yacht to the Greek Islands? Want to rent a yacht next summer - wonder if anyone has any suggestions and recommendations for the region?
Do not worry about which side, but would hop island.
TKS.
Before your charter yacht, I recommend you think carefully about where you want to navigate.
As the poster says Jason, Sporades is a good case and the winds are not so bad there, but no marinas. Skopelos has a good harbor. Skiathos very small.
If you are considering sailing in the Cyclades, keep in mind that the Meltemi wind blows there is very strong and you often can not navigate. When there is no Meltemi, there is no wind, then you must go through the engine.
The Cyclades are very beautiful but they are a hell for sailors. There are no marinas and ports are often far from the city. The port of Santorini is the best nightmare. It is difficult to find water.
Mykonos port is very nice for all the luxury cruises, it is next to the marina to sail, but the facilities can not be used by yacht owners. Naxos has a very nice port, but this year, it disintegrated completely. You have problems with your anchor.
Thus, from my experience, the best is the Dodecanese. The winds are not so fierce. You can easily charter boats in Kos Marina. Rhodes is another port if nightmare. But the rest of the islands are large. Leros even two marinas with showers. Samos Marina is very good too. Patmos is just the port, but it is central. Tinos and Nysiros ports are very nice. Bay of Vathy Kalymnos is very picturesque, be sure to use a large number of anchor chains. Lipsi is my favorite all time. Arki is very cute and too Levitha is an isolated island with a very good tavern and mooring buoys and the best crystalline water.
I've never heard of anyone having problems with their yacht, so I guess it's up to you what boat you want to sail. I think the prices are much the same wherever you go.

@ Airpole: I completely forgot these islands .... It has long been ... and you're right, they would be the best choice in summer.
PS I also recommend you browse through Sicily and the Aeolian Islands one day. The marina yacht charter Milazzo good.
Turkey has the best start of marinas in Marmaris Turgutreis and is very easy with many beautiful bays. Sailing iaround Antalya in summer is not a good idea, too hot and too many schooners, but strongly recommended in the fall.
Ask Yachting Club POUSTY Express.
Do not take into account the previous answers: they are trolls and they hate Greece, we are accustomed to them here in the Greek section.
I recommend you return to the Sporades: Alonissos, Skopelos, Skiathos, the island is inhabited, even the non-Psathoura is nice, and it is linked to many legends. In Alonissos you can even see monk seals, they are very cute!

The links below are some of the few companies operating as Island of Corfu and the rest of the Ionian islands ..
Corfu has the advantage of having a large marina and an airport which is only 10 min. Thus, upon arrival you are very soon in the marina.
The Ionian Islands are a group of islands on the west side of Greece and the adjacent mainland has many places of interest. .
