Inflatable TendersDoes anyone have experience with HF antennas on yachts? I envisage an antenna that uses the back-stay.?

As usual set-up is a return stay isolated sloper up and down and fed by a tuner to the lower end. I am looking for information on releases of the insulation and the top mast and the hull steel as an antenna. The yacht is 42 m at the waterline and has a steel deck. The bottom of the back room is divided with the voltage on each side of the table, and the balcony is crowded with solar wind, and an inflatable tender. Currently there is no insulation on the back-stay, it will be installed on top of the block which applies the tension. Any thoughts?

I recommend that you use the insulation above. That said, I would not try to change the rig, at this point. A split left behind can give you problems, and all the equipment installed at the rear can be annoying. I agree that you need someone who is known not only with electronics, but the rig sailboat. Ultimately you may have to go back to a single residence. Good luck!

Isolation stay back in place works - can extend the signal of the hull, so just remove the broadcast signal. The distance is only gained by using a ground plane independent of the aerial distribution, and of course skipping the signal through the inversion layers in the atmosphere.

On commercial vessels, we mount the antennas of multiple large high on the top and use the switch packs for change in wavelength as a function of frequency. I speak of boaters plying the blue waters seem pretty happy with the insulation back stay in place - a reduction ratio of reception / transmission dead ahead for obvious reasons, but generally it works.

Better off to contact a local installer of communication or a supplier of HF equipment for advice on your specific situation. HF is not normally used for local communication, and must be put in place the right to work at extreme distances, it is capable.
