Powerboat School

Posted on May 3, 2010.
Powerboat SchoolIs that my son will miss an experience at the College of normal?

My son just turned seventeen a month ago and so far, his life is far from normal for a high school student.
Thanks to its experience in wakeboarding, jet skiing and boating, he got a job with a powerboat racer retired engineer who now and try to find better boats and jet skis. Then he finally got on the team competition. It was a jet ski and other small local racing boats and some competition wakeboarding.
He spends most time with the team or work. The only thing that is relevant to the school that seems to be really excited about anything to do with ROTC and is part of the team fitness. In addition, he has absolutely no social life refer to the school.
He began taking college classes one day a week last fall and it seems to have more friends in high school.
When it comes to dance classes, besides attending a ball by himself in his first year, he has always done something unusual. For example, last year, he took a 20 years old girl who was a teammate of his return. This year, he took a 19-year Russian girl who is a part-time model in upscale restaurants and the military ball.
Not long ago, I discovered he turned an offer from the date of a group of friends down. When I asked about the plan, he says he is taking this girl in her class of college who is 22. This weekend, he bought a suit worth over $ 2,000. On Monday, he told me that his boss is allowing him to borrow his car expensive sport. Today, I discovered they also bring another girl who is a friend of his day long! So it will take two dates.
I can not help but feel like he was next to a very important part of life. It's almost as if he jumped high school life. I think it is important to have a normal high school life, and it is pretty much out the window. Am I just worrying to much or is he really is missing an important part of life?

I do not think the school experiment HS is a big problem since he does so many things, but the flashy car - sports jersey 2k $ 2 dates - I wouldnt be happy with everything this. Sounds like he is trying waaay too hard for his age, and essentially intentionally do not work with children at school. I am more concerned that his disappearance hs. Low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacy, work on them.

I want to know what "normal" is today.

He is happy in school work and take college courses. Ok maybe it is not so smart when it comes to finances, he is still young. He knows what he wants and who he wants to be with. As long ago, it does not revolve around drinking, drugging, stealing.Don 't worry so much. He must learn to be more responsible with money. You must show him.

if he is happy with the way his high school happens when I leave alone, so he isn't being irresponsible, so I think he is old enough to make simple choices like this on his own life Social everyone is different and how you will run Sell totally different from the way your son wants to be his unless he starts taking the wrong crowd and getting drunk every night or something let it be

It looks like a movie plot ...

My ick factor is what kind of girl of 22 years wants to spend time with a boy in school? Unless she sees in him a paycheck to come, it should really want to spend time with someone older.

Being mature for his age is not a problem in itself spending $ 2,000 on a suit, driving an expensive (borrowed) sports car and take two years to a 20 + event school is . It seems he is trying to look like a pimp. Teenagers should not take adults (old enough to buy alcohol) at school events, it is simply not appropriate. I'm not so concerned a.
