PORTLAND, Maine (July 30, 2008) - The Maine chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will launch its 27th Annual MS Harborfest weekend begins Thursday, August 14 continues to Sunday, August 17. On Friday evening, August 15, a sponsor and reception patterns for sailing regatta will be held at Handy Boat in Falmouth.

On Saturday, August 16, the 27th Annual MS Harborfest Parade of Sail and race will be held in Portland Harbor. The cornerstone of Harborfest weekend, the Regatta attracts over a hundred boats, showing their colors with the skippers, crew and sponsors on board. The MS Harborfest Regatta is the biggest regatta in Maine and the largest charity sailing event in the Northeast. The MS Regatta Harborfest is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich, CT.

Also Saturday, the MS Harborfest Powerboat Poker Run will be held on Casco Bay. Participants are encouraged to "dress ship" with decorations or costumes. After a parade around Portland Harbor, boat marinas Travel Region (where each stop will feature a theme and presents) to pick up a tag ATM card sole before attaching the marina DeMillo for a barbecue and awards ceremony. But the participants did not need a boat to join the fun, the cards can be purchased at the door and include admission to the party to be held under the tent, rain or shine.

On Sunday, August 17, the annual MS Harborfest Parade and Tugboat Muster and MS Harborfest Shoreside Festival will take place in the State of Maine Pier. The tugs will be moored at the pier in Maine, surrounded by a festival featuring racing suits, exhibitions, food and entertainment for the whole family. At 2:00 PM, the tugs will be online for an impressive parade, after which they 'll participate in exciting competitions and races on Casco Bay. Shoreside Festival admission is free.
