Sailing ClothingThe benefits of layering clothes sailing

A few weekends of warm spring weather can rekindle enthusiasm for sailing, even in fair weather sailors, regardless of whether their main plan is to enjoy the evening sitting on a bridge in the evening sun, watching the sun glitter on the water and enjoy a well earned glass of wine.

However, it is what happens to the wine glass that sailing is really about, whether inland or on the sea and despite the heat of the midday sun, spring days are still cold in the morning and evening. Emerging from a sleeping bag to find the remains of a freeze on bridges is not an encouraging experience, unless you have clothes to wear techniques to ensure you stay warm. Here at Scotts of Langholm we Musto, Henri Lloyd and Gill sailing clothing that will cover you layer over light breathing completely water and windproof shell layer.

It is important to have breathable layers so that sweat can evaporate in an effort to prevent you from overheating and avoid a feeling clammy as you cool. Several layers of clothing veil means you can easily modify to suit the conditions, then first thing you might have about five layers, and as the day progresses and the temperature rises, you can remove layers so you remain comfortable all day. When it is evening and the sun was lost, it is time to put the layers back.

Sailing can be very mild, as you drift along in a light breeze, very active or if you tack on a small river in a force 5. Sailing clothing is designed to allow you to choose your clothes based on the sailing you plan to do.
