Seadoo Xp Performance

What is the differance between the 96 and XP SPX 99? I know they both have the X-4 hull, but it is other then a big differance be older. differs as horse power, weight and performance. SPX 99 is almost the same as XP only with the change of name or Seadoo not make major changes?
