Topaz Dinghy

Posted on June 6, 2010.
Topaz DinghyTopper Topaz dinghy?

Iv'e just bought a sailing dinghy Topper Topaz and I found that the mainsail luff Cleet is too small to tie it on (as described in the manual) - alternative ideas?

Also I will have trouble raising and lowering the Geneka - Advice?

Iv'e sailed the topper before - but this version is more sleek - so I'm open to any constructive advice on how to start.

Thank you.

+ Dear Miss Mills

I see that you replace the riser with a line of smaller, or increasing the size of the hold.
As for your "Geneka" (cross between a genoa and spinnaker?) I make sure the lines are clear and do not rub something first, then I would check the pulley to ensure it is operating and does not bind.
I'm not familiar with that exact boat that I ran 210, and lightning, so my advice would be to ensure that drift decreased as soon as possible en route. I think I could ask other sailors topper to give you a demonstration of how they get underway.
I just watched a bit more about it. It looks a little over 12 'long and you can wait for a dip if the wind is strong. It also examines the veil to report as if the hull can be very fast and agile in a stiff wind. You better get all details worked on a calm day and before you put it in water. Judging by the time of year you're starting then I assume you are in New Zealand or Australia?
Good luck and moderate sea
