risk of Yamaha's boat sea water began in the 60s but the company's production of personal water crafts came in later in 1986. There are several reasons why Yamaha decided to produce PVC. One was the growing public interest with Kawasaki Jet Ski and Bombardier Sea-Doo. (The names Jet Ski and Sea-Doo have become generic terms for stand-ups and sit-down watercraft, respectively.) Sales of the two brands kept on rising that prompted the entry of the WaveRunner array of water sports.

The first Yamaha PVC in the same time the first sit-down PVC is the WaveRunner Jet 500 or 500T Navy. Although the Sea-Doo has released the sit-down, the whole market today sitting WaveRunner.

A year later, the WaveRunner was replaced shortly with the 500 WaveJammer name or Marine Jet 500S. This model has been considered the world's first solo sitting PWC riding. Even with the WaveRunner 500, WavaJammer was very agile with its combination of hulls and small fixed steering column.

The sitter was still very popular in the 90s and led to the introduction of the WaveRunner III 650 or the Marine Jet 650TL. This model has been given the recognition that the first PVC which has been designed for three passengers. It featured high engine performance, stability, speed, and a larger hull. This model became the parent of Yamaha WaveRunner models later than most PVC applications has increased over the years.

Before the introduction of another WaveRunner (except for the VX650 WaverRunner in 1992) came several other Yamaha PVC. These include Super Jet 650 stand-up jet ski () WaveBlaster 700 that rose like a motorcycle, WaveRaider 700 WaveVenture 700 with a capacity of 3 squares, and WaveBlaster II with a very powerful 760cc.

In 1997 came the WaveRunner GP 1200 with one of the most powerful engines on the market. From now on, the power, size, style and features become the priority of Yamaha. Other characteristics of these models came out. The WaveRunner XL 1200 came a year later. In 1999, two models, the WaveRunner SUV 1200 WaveRunner XL 1200 Ltd has been released.


In 2000, PVC Yamaha WaveRunner GP 1200R, offers 155 hp engine design amazing body. It was followed by the WaveRunner XLT 1200 WaveRunner FX140, WaveRunner GP 1300R with 1200cc, engine performance WaveRunner FX High Output Cruiser 4-stroke higher, WaveRunner VX Deluxe WaveRunner FX High Output Cruiser, and WaveRunner VX 700. All these models are based on performance, stylish and most importantly, very affordable.
